RISE is a unique educational and vocational program offering targeted instruction outside of the regular education classroom. RISE enables junior and senior high students with special educational needs to develop their God-given talents and abilities in a safe and encouraging atmosphere. Taught by nurturing, godly instructors, the program educates the whole child in social, academic, spiritual, and vocational training. It is the only faith-based special education program of its kind in the Denver area.
RISE is for students who:
- Have a diagnosed learning disability, including cognitive delays
- Require a modified curriculum for most or all core academic subjects
- Benefit from vocational training for post-high school job placement
RISE students receive an education tailored to their needs with an emphasis on real world applications. Each student has a Success Action Plan (SAP), a document similar to the public school Individualized Education Program (IEP). RISE classes offer a low student/teacher ratio of 6.5:1 capitalizing on individualized attention.
In addition to core academics offered in RISE, students have the opportunity to participate in electives with the FRCS student body at large, such as culinary arts, guitar, P.E., choir, etc. When appropriate, RISE students may register for regular FRCS academic classes. Additionally, RISE students join in school-wide activities such as chapel, discipleship groups, sports teams, and drama productions. RISE is proud to partner with the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) and Special Olympics (providing “unified” sports).
Students who are placed within the RISE vocational program receive training and internships with local business with a goal to improve basic job skills. On campus, students service a vending machine (stocking, inventory, and tracking profits) and work at Holy Grounds Café, the school’s coffee shop (kitchen helper, dining room attendant, etc.).
RISE offers competitive tuition rates and is a one-of-a-kind, faith-based educational and vocational program for children with learning differences. As the program grows in interest and numbers an elementary section may be added.
