What I love about Front Range Christian School

I love the community at FRCS! Real people with a real love for Jesus and one another.

Our first year at FRCS was tough as I went through chemo and the boys transitioned from homeschooling to in-classroom learning. One night my youngest said to me, “We pray for you every day.”

I asked, “How does that make you feel?”

Without hesitation, he responded, “Like people care.”

And they do! I love this school!

Five Books

Five books, other than the Bible, that have impacted my faith or career.

  • Because He Loves Me by Elyse Fitzpatrick (Reading this book gave me a new appreciation for my identity as a daughter of God. It is because of God’s great love that I long to obey Him and love others.)
  • Christian Heroes: Then and Now series by Janet and Geoff Being (I have been inspired by reading the biographies of brave men and women who have given their life to the Lord in missions. In particular, I have enjoyed reading Gladys Award: The Adventure of a Lifetime; George Muller: The Guardian of Bristol’s; and Amy Carmichael: Rescuer of Precious Gems. )
  • 8 Great Smarts by Kathy Koch (This book helped me realize that my child communicates differently because he is “logic smart.” And it has given me a framework to help others see that everyone is smart in their own way.)
  • Hinds Feet in High Places by Hannah Gurnard (I listened to this book both times I when through chemotherapy. It is such a beautiful reminder that Sorrow and Suffering are not evil deeds from a heartless God but rather necessary tools our Good Shepard uses to give us Joy and Peace.)
  • The Four Tendencies by Gretchen Rubin (This guide helped me see who I am and showed me practical ways to combat my weaknesses. It also gave me great tips for working with other personality types.)

Things I do outside of FRCS

One of my favorite things is simply being outside enjoying God’s creation. Camping, chilling in a hammock, riding my bike, going for a walk, kayaking, playing pickle-ball, hanging out at a park, or shooting hoops in the cul-de-sac are all places you can find me on a beautiful day.

If I’m not outside, I love to play games, dive into a good book, volunteer at church, tinker with my ukulele, get creative with my scrapbook, or workout in a kickboxing class (if you haven’t tried it, you don’t know what you are missing!!!).

Something about me

I love goofy puns, corny jokes, and creative commercials. I guess you could say I tell a good dad joke even though I’m a mom.

Along a similar note, I LOVE April Fools’ Day (consider yourself warned). Most years, I rope my two boys into helping me “get” dad. Over the past years, we have: filled his Oreos with toothpaste, switched his sugar for salt, gifted him a cake pop that was truly a Brussels sprout pop, and filled his toothpaste tube with frosting. But my personal favorite was when I made his favorite dessert, and he would not eat it because he was sure we had done something to it, but the joke was that they were perfectly normal oatmeal raisin cookies. We laughed so hard we cried.
